Osmoregulation is REGULATING OSMOTIC PRESSURE in your body's fluid

*Note :  [  ] means concentration*

Hyperosmotic "Too Much"

High [solute] on 1 side with low [water]

Hypoosmotic "Too Little"

Low [solute] on 1 side with high [water]

Isoosmotic

same [solute+water] on both sides

-ideal

  • Organisms need to keep intra+extracellular fliud ISOOSMOTIC

    • to do this... cells regulate ionic balance, pH + [osmotic]

  • Deamination  is amino acids being removed when proteins =metabloized

    •  The makes ammonia which is toxic

      • But thank goodness for your liver because by combining ammonia with HCO3 we get UREA

      • Urea is water soluble so it goes into your pee
