The Genetic Code is the 4 nitrogenous bases in RNA (Adenine, Thymine, Guanine and Uracil)  and 20 amino acids

Codons code for amino acids and are 3 base pairs long (example: CAU)

  • Start Codon = AUG (Protein: Met.)

    • Anything before this codon = noncoding

  • Stop Codons = UGA, UAA, UAG

    • They stop protein coding because they don't code for no protein

      • Anything after these guys are not transcribed/coded for protein
