  • Makes 2 ATP

  • All the carbon is gone now and released as waste as CO2

  • Since there be 2 pyruvate from glycolysis which turned into 2 acetyl-CoA @ pyruvate oxidation....this cycle goes around twice, one time per acetyl-CoA

1. CoA carries an acetyl group and reacts with Oxaloacetate to make citrate

2. A carbon leaves as a waste product in the form of CO2

NAD+ is reduced to NADH+H+

Step 2 repeats

3. To make Succinate the CoA on Succinyl CoA goes away

The energy from this makes GDP into GTP

Through SUBSTRATE LEVEL PHOSPHORYLATION... GTP gives a phosphate to ADP making into ATP!!

4. 2 electrons and 2 protons go to FAD, reducing to FADH2

5. To make malate, water is added to fumarate

6. NAD+ is reduced to NADH+H+
